General Interview Season
A Few Days Before
After researching the role and creating a list of the company’s values and the key skills required for the job, I referred to my CV to write a list of relevant experiences, or anything I found to have professional value. I listed group projects, breaking them down by skills and lessons learned, and did the same with work, sports, and other activities. Prioritise examples that align specifically with the company’s values. A few days prior, I met with a friend who helped me brainstorm draft questions and responses – a fresh perspective was invaluable for content and confidence.
The Day Before
Practicing speaking in front of my computer screen felt way stranger than expected. It did actually take time to get comfortable with this – give yourself a few hours where you can practice answering draft questions and record yourself and review it to find improvements. Having post-its around my desk with examples, skills and values helped solidify key talking points! The Morning Of
I gave myself another hour or so where I could run through my talking points, how they related to the company’s values and again, bullet-pointed anything new that came to mind. Most importantly though: have a good breakfast and dress for success. Feeling good should be your top priority on the day!
